Im trying to find a rehab yard for a horse that needs bringing back into work,as part of its rehab, after an operation. Im recovering from a big operation myself so cant do it myself.
The insurance will pay for the reahb and half the livery providing its a proper rehab yard and not just a livery yard that does extras (!)
I know of Yorkshire Equine Clinic and the one at Sicklinghall/Spofforth.
Anywhere more in the North of England?
I have 4 weeks to find one.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Thanks for that! Its quite a way but definately worth looking into. I want to get as many options as I can and do my homework.

I was just about to suggest Taylored Equestrian... the lady comes on here.

The other one I know is in Yorkshire where I sent my mare post colic surgery as I was going away for two weeks following her discharge from Leahurst.

Thanks for that. Ive heard that there is one in either Lancashire or the Lakes? Cant seem to find one on the web apart from horse health farm in Settle. Dont think they do much now as Dalehead vets have expanded onto the yard there?

Thats sounds good. Just looked at their website. I will give them a ring. Burnleys only about 45 mins away with the trailer. Thanks so much!
Its really hard to get my head around the fact that I cant sort it myself! Must be a control freak or something! I would travel her quite a way to get somewhere that Im happy with , but, I would like her to be close enough to visit.

If you can bear it, it's much better to let someone else deal with the rehab. From experience I tried to do it myself and I shouldn't have. It was very difficult, the horse associated all the problems with me/home and I didn't really have the facilities they have at a rehab yard. If/when I have to do it again I will be putting mine in rehab livery.

I have spoken to Higher Spen and I must say that the lady sounded very nice and knowledgable. Im hoping to go and see her tomorrow. They have a swimming pool there which will be great for her. Quite excited now! I cant ride for at least another 6 weeks so it would be stupid to get straight on a horses that hasnt been ridden for months! Im crackers but not suicidal!

Hi clara,

if you have no luck with Higher Spen then as the guys have already said I run a rehab yard.

As well as having an oval horsewalker and hydrotherapy spa we also have 24hour CCTV. This means that the owners can log in over the internet and keep an eye on their horses all the time.

So whilst I appreciate that we are a little bit further away than you may like you would always be able to see your horse.

Please do give me a call or PM me for more info. You can find my website by just googling my name.

i can second taylored equestrian, fantastic facilities, nice knowledgable folks with a super equine vet no more than 10 mins away should they be needed

The one in the Lakes might be Pine Lodge at Skelton Wood End (Jonjo O'Neils old premises), not far from Penrith. They do rehab etc, have some good facilities including swimming pool and solarium.
