Rehoming ex police/military horses

The army has a re-mount centre in Melton Mowbray. Someone I knew got one from there once ...he was a real star and totally reliable. Don't know if they do re-homing but might be worth a call.

My friend bought an ex-police horse a few years back but he was not rehomed like you might with an ex-racehorse. He had undergone massive amounts of training and was worth a lot of money, which my friend spent buying him. From what she told me back then, they don't rehome the horses but sell them on after a thorough vetting.

This might have all changed now though.

As I understand it, because police horses are public property, they have to be sold at auction. The ones from Kingston used to go through Reading - I bought one a nice 6 year old few years ago and he was fab.

I think they now go through Ascot Sales now - you can just ring the auction house and ask if any are going through.
