I'm thinking of rehoming an exracer from Darley as that is my nearest place.

I know I have to pay some money so does that mean the horse is then mine or is it still like on loan? So if I don't get on with it it can go back rather than me sell it on? :)

I don't know the one you mean specifically, but normally you pay a small ammount, which helps recoup some of the costs whilst the horse has been in their care. The horse is never yours, it is on long term loan to you, which means that yes, you can never sell it on. If you decide the horse isn't for you, then yes I believe you can return them and (if they have something suitable), get another, or if you find yourself unavaliable to have them any longer you can return them.

Check out the Darley rehoming website. It gives quite specific information about their scheme but to sum up. They consider your application and if they have a horse in their scheme that might be suitable for you they will contact you and arrange a visit. You try the horse both in the school and out on a hack and they may ask you to come back for further visits. If both parties are happy to proceed the horse comes to you on 3 month loan trial. At the end of the trial period if you are still happy then you sign a non-racing agreement and pay £100 plus Vat. The horse is then yours.
I am lucky enough to own a "Darley" boy and he is great :-)
