Would the rescues even know they are ratters? I'm a Rottweiler person and my 8yo boy thinks he can rat...nowhere near fast enough and almost takes the shed with him each time.
I doubt rescues would know of their ratting skills, if you have problems with rats go along to your local feed store and see if they know of anyone with a good ratting dog.Im sure they would love to come over and help rid you of rats just for the thrill of it.
Dobiegirl - I've thought about getting a rat man in but wonder what the neighbours would think. I live in the sort of area that likes the idea of the countryside but heaven forbid those Hunter wellies actually experience mud We have only one rat (that we've seen).
Ladyt25 - I'd agree but judging by my luck with horses I guarantee I'd end up with the only terrier that gets chased by the rat
Damn, every so often someone posts on here about their working-type terrier running rings around them, at the end of their tether and looking for a new home, typical!
CaveCanem - I'll keep my eyes open then I can normally turn most dogs around pretty quickly...I'm rubbish with horses but when it comes to dogs I'm not too shabby, even if I do say so myself
We have had plenty of ratting terriers in our rescue, some have literally been used for it and some would be superb at it given the chance and we would have many times have loved to place these rather wired terrier into a working home
I ould be sure a few we still have i would be fit for the purpose.
Cayla, where are you? (I'm on my phone so can't see if you have a location ) Any dog we take on would have to be reasonably sane as we're not a true working household and have a toddler plus other pets PM me if you like
