Reins (poll)

Love my half rubber reins. A bit of grip and not bulky. They work really well with a plain leather curb rein but aren't too skinny on their own.

I have JHL ones on both my bridles. They are cheap but very nice and supple for the price!

Flexi reins are the best! They have a good grip - i don't like leather reins cos they just slide through my hands, and i dont like chunky rubber ones as they are just too chunky and uncomfortable and sometimes rub! Also depends what you are doing? I use half rubber ones for showing so i still have the grip but everyday riding has to be flexi reins, more expensive but worth every penny!!!

continental are my favourite but they have to be the ones with rubber woven into the webbing - much more grippy than standard continentals!

For when something smarter is needed then I have dressage / half rubber reins.

Im really fussy with reins! My instructor hated my old rubber ones & suggested continental ones which I didnt like as I couldnt get a good grip of them....so I settled for laced reins for everyday riding, they are fab & look nice too :)

I use biogrip on my bitted bridles and soft nylon old fashioned pony club reins on my bitless. I hate stiff bulky reins; the only leather I use is a 1/2" curb rein on my pelham which has been massaged with leather balsalm.
