reins rubbing ?

Is there any prevention for the reins rubbing on the side of my boys neck?

Are there rein sleves you can get to go on your reins or is there a cream that can harden up skin or something ? funny ideas but would like to find something to sort it out

Are you using rubber reins / thick or rough leather ?
I have yo use plain good quality leather reins on my sensitive skinned horse.

i dont think i could handle reins without rubber - espec as he is fairly strong sometimes..

You can get sheepskin sleeves for reins

You can try using surgical spirit or salt water to de-sensitise and harden skin. I feel bad because my boy (who is not clipped and has very little coat) has rubbed patches on both sides from my chaps! He is fine, not showing any sign of soreness, just not that pretty! Could clip him and hide patches but what's the point?
