I'm considering a pollen relief muzzle as my lad has been head shaking a bit lately.

I am a bit shocked at the price though - 25 quid for a bit of net!?

I was wondering if anyone has one and thinks it is worth the money? Or if anyone has attempted any 'home-made' efforts??

Thanks!

My horse head shakes as soon as the pollen starts. I have tried nasal sprays, vaseline in his nose, steroids from the vet etc. The best thing I found is using one of the relief nets. He snorts into it the first few times he has it on then forgets about it. I don't know why it works when nothing else does, but I would have paid a lot more for any other "fix" so £25 seemed a bargain to me. I'm still using the same nets I bought about 3 years ago.....

My first pony was a head shaker - this was many years ago before it was really a recognised problem and things like relief nets had been invented. Someone I had lessons with suggested tights over the nose. We used to cut the feet off thin tights and stretch a foot over her nose and tie to the noseband. It worked very well, but did get gunked up with slobber etc as it covered the whole nose and mouth. But might be worth trying to see if it makes any difference before you buy a proper net?

Thanks for the tips, everyone! I've still not decided whether to invest so may borrow one to try or fashion something temporary like the tights just to try it! Thanks again :)
