Just had to put it out there..
Have moved lami-recovering Short Stuff into a bigger paddock with long grass so she can share with Long Legs again & she's got a grazing muzzle on 24/7..
But the first night we left her, she just paced up & down, not even trying to eat, as we walked up the field. Big sad eyes. And then the heartbreaking whinny! :(
The night after wasn't much better & I was starting to worry about what I could do if she wasn't getting it. There were still plenty of poos in the field, but you all know what we're like for worrying..
Tonight - success! :D
Went down & could see her grazing as I walked down! She spotted me, looked up & then carried on grazing. I had to be sure, so waited 'til I got right next to her & could see her grazing before I phoned my Mum & told her she's cracked it! :D
This makes our lives so much easier & both my girls so much happier! :D
I was so pleased I almost cried..
Milk & cookies for those who indulged me this far xxx

That's great. :) It's always a worry when you put a grazing muzzle on a horse that's not worn one before. It's such a relief to see them eat (but not too fast ;)) and drink with it on.

Glad you're muzzler is getting used to it. I remember the face I got when I put old woman's on her! She just looked over the gate longingly at me. But muzzle at least means turn out :) and do the once petrifying hoof boots!

It was very worrying - especially since she's such a greedy guts & I was expecting her to get round it somehow.. Now I know she can live out in the way that makes her happiest without worrying about her weight :)

My girl looked devastated. And she was a rescue case - the last time I saw her eyes like that, she was a very different horse.. It was so hard to walk away. But you're right ATCA, it means turn out & my girl hates being stabled with a passion! Now she'll not be bored for hours when her food runs out like she was when being strip grazed :)

Awwwww! I can imagine that was awful to see. My girl has never been a rescue case in her life, never even close but she's learned how to break all her owners hearts with just one look!

Mares! Lovely but manipulative creatures ;)

Sorry it took so long to reply! Yeah, she was completely wild when I started working on her so I'm her one & only really.. She loves my mum to bits, but differently.. So when I do something she doesn't like it's heartbreaking for both of us - but it's all worked out thankfully :D
