Hi everyone , I brought my daughters a little mare last year , she was poor conditions , pony is bomb proof she’s never put a foot wrong we have taken it things slow well it’s been my 8 year old doing all the work we have spent the last 6 months ground work and building up muscles and weight … so now all of a sudden bloomed looking in great shape ! I decided to get back checked and saddle re fitted before I got on her as I’m 9 stone so prob on the heavier side for her I just wanted to give my daughter abit help , how ever since having her back and saddle done she has become very reluctant to move forward for my daughter so I decided to get on and she is doing this weird thing not quite rearing or bucking but chucking both front legs and stamping the floor it’s hard to explain in stead of one foot at a time she’s almost jumping with both front feet 🤔🤔 she does settle after 5-10 mins it’s only since we got physio and saddle done ?

Thank you will try this afternoon I was a little sad as she was perfect pony this time last week , my dad always said don’t try fix somthing that ain’t broken that’s what I have done and caused a problem 😡😡
You could try to walk her around in the saddle before anyone gets on and see what she does.

What did the fitter do to the saddle?

Have a quick feel at her hooves. If they feel warmer than your hand, or hot, you may be dealing with laminitis. Is she trying to lean her weight back onto her hind feet? She may also be protesting because you are riding, and it is not comfortable. Some ponies are too polite to drop a shoulder and put you on the floor!

It might be a protest to you riding. How big is she? My daughter has a chunky welsh a and she is great with the kiddies but if i get on her she doesnt half kick up a stink 🤣
