When I go to pick up Josie's front right foot, she's been reluctant to give it to me, and when she does she's still in the 'resting position' with her back left.

Does anyone have any ideas? There's no heat or swelling, she's not lame.

She had surgery for PSD on right hind 5 1/2 months ago, could this be anything to do with it?

My back lady is coming to her tomorrow, just wondered what you all thought.

Thankies x

In my experience, if a horse is reluctant to pick up a foot it's because they are in pain or discomfort in the opposite foot.. Check out her left fore, she might have a stone bruise or an abcess brewing.

Ahok. Farrier was out today, so know it's nothing there. I just thought it was the behind as she takes ages to actually put it flat, prefering to balance on her toe on the left hind instead?

I would say left hind as well. My boy has OCD in his left hind hock and is very reluctant to pick up right front foot as a result. I usually prepare him for it, by tapping so he knows I want that foot, then he rearranges himself to take more weight on left front and right back and sort of twists so I can pick it out very quickly. Otherwise I let him lean on me.

Aw bless him. She doesn't twist, just stands on her toe then plops it down. She doesn't really shuffle whilst it's down though. Just takes her time putting it flat.
