Remember I said my mare was being a moo when turned out?

Well I *think* I may have discovered the answer. Took her rug off this morning and turned her out naked - was a bit worried she may get cold, but thought it was sunny enough to give it a go - and hey presto, horsey puts her head down, grazes in a place she previously told me was FAR too sour to eat, and looks at me as if to say 'At last! You've got the message!'

Maybe she was just getting scratchy underneath her rug, what with her new coat coming through. Whatever her reasons, she was out for 3 and a half hours today with barely any silliness, and when she came in, it was on my terms, for the first time in 4 months!

Phew!

Surprisingly not!

Normally rolling is the first thing she did, but today she was content just to eat.

Fine by me...I still have a clean horse

Maybe her rug isnt that comfy to eat in????? Just a thought.... does it pinch at all when she puts her head down, or do any of the leg straps etc pull up tight????

I measured merlin for his winter rug and duly bought the appropriate 6' size.... only to find that evertime he put his head down to eat, he nearly sliced his arse off with the fillet string
