Remember my grumpy, food aggressive mare?

Some of you might remember my desperate posts about my little mare who was kicking the sh*t out of her "companion", aggressively guarding even 10 piles of hay etc etc. A bit of digging suggested that she'd never got on with other horses- mares or geldings.

Well....... she's found a friend!! We've been loaned an absolute saint of a Shetland- she's an elderly, low ranking, zero-confrontation mare, and the change has been phenomenal. No heels flying, no bums turned, not even an ear back, and she's been a dream to handle. I cannot explain how happy this makes me ?

Here are a couple of pictures of them even sharing a "bucket feed" (of very boring top chop zero and lami lite balancer, but still)

Absolutely thrilled- I feel like she's got more of a life, and less of an existence. Now I just need to get her cushings properly under control, and actually sort out my track system. Bit by bit.
