remember when...saddles came in narrow,med, wide?

there seem to be about a gazillion width fittings these days!

i remember when there were narrow,medium and wide fittings, and pretty much everything i knew was in a medium...

a fellow livery had a fitter out to her very very skinny, narrow trotter mare and fitter said horse was med/wide...i was amazed as theres nothing to the mare.

There's nothing to my mare, look at her from the front and she virtually disappears yet she's a med-wide. I was shocked as my chunky conniextb is only a medium!!!

oh god dont get me started!! Rather stressed about it all myself!!

I dont trust measurements any more!! In one saddle my boy is a med, the other a Wide, and the one i have now id a Med/Wide which needs a front riser, and a wide in it to soo wide!

I can see why horses used to have numerous seasonal saddles as I could do with 3 for his various sizes!!

My TB was measured as MW but droped a lil muscle so is now a MM-medium medium

ive got about 3 spare saddles to sell, and know what sizes they 'were' but not what they are in the modern sizing range. 2 were bought as medium 10 or more years ago and fit my cobby horse who is wider than the narrow mare i mentioned in my first post, who is in med/wide...
