Remind me... Knee to coronet measurement = ?

I read about it on here somewhere but I can't remember.

I managed to measure my baby last week. From mid-knee straight down to coronet, he was a smidge under 17 inches. I am hoping this doesn't = 17 hands'ish.

His dam was only 15 hands and he's her first foal. Blo**dy hell, if this is small (being a 'first foal') goodness only knows what the next one would be like.

That is the interpretation of it that i have heard too - which means that my Highland (smidge under 14hh) and the sire (about 15hh) are between them going to produce a 15.2 by this measurement!

What if a horse has long canons for its size?! Not that I am suggesting either of your does, of course

I don't think it is an exact science! A couple of inches either way at least give an indication of final size
