I was sorting through some boxes this afternoon and found a single, tiny shoe which belonged to my childhood pony. She was pts last December after 28 years together and it made my cry.

The strange thing is I have locks of her hair, her headcollar and leadrope, and so on and they are fine, it was just that little shoe!

I guess other HHOers who have lost beloved horses probably find the same thing.

hello there. I often talk to baby'photo and "stroke her" :) silly i know. my oh caught me couple weeks ago. "miss her dont you"he asked. Cue floods of tears. A big hug to you x

I have a shoe from my best ever horse that I lost seven years ago; it sits on the bookshelves above my desk and I see it every day. However, a couple of months ago I 'found' a tooth that he had had removed about ten years ago before I lost him....somehow that was a lot more 'personal' and did involve a Kleenex or two.

I opened a laundry basket of my old pony's rugs last year and it happened to be on the one year anniversary of her death. I'd had her 12 years, from when I was 11. I have some of her mane, two teeth, and a few shoes, plus her tack is still in my bedroom at home.

I can't listen to No Doubt's "Don't Speak" without crying as it reminds me of when I lost Harry, my second pony (who died in 2006). Sadly I don't have any of his stuff left, I sold his tack and rugs. I do have a shoe of his.

I have had photos of them both up in all my student houses, and say good night to them both and tell them I love them when I turn the light out for bed.

*hugs* 28 years is an incredibly long time!
