We have recently bought a property with equestrian facilities. As we have no horses and don't intend to buy any, we would like to convert the sand school back to an area for the children. I have been told that the membrane, chopped up rubber and sand can be sold rather than just removed. I have also been told that the quality of the sand school is very good. Does anyone have any thoughts on this. The property is in West Sussex.

Arghhh don't tell us this on here! You don't know how many people will be envious of you having an outdoor school! Never mind getting rid of it!

You'll have no problem at all getting rid of it.
I would suggest listing it on eBay with an obvious 'buyer to collect'. I think the last one that I saw on there went for about £3000 (that was for everything including the drainage stone)
You could also put notices up in local tack & feed stores.
I would also contact your local pony club & riding club branches they may be able to help.

Building a school can cost thousands. Costing £20k upwards...
Why not leave as is and make it a play area for your children and build one of those massive play/climbing frames/slides/treehouse things? Mahoosive trampoline etc. Anything like that needs rubber underneath it. Sounds like you have the perfect base for a play area!

Sensible advice but the school is huge and we want to divide it up and put a tennis court and kids' football pitch on it. Thanks for your reply.

Oh dear...... Each to their own though - I would love an outdoor school :(
Im sure selling will not be a problem - pity you couldn't just teleport the whole lot to my field in the Midlands x

I'm sure someone local would take the surface! Bear in mind if you do ever want to sell up you will have wiped a fair few grand off the property value removing it completely.
Would the kids prefer beach volleyball?Astro turf over the top? Lol
