Hi all, I have a four year old who has a sarcoid very near the inside corner of his eye, it currently isn’t bothering him but I have the vet coming to look at removing it.
Anyone had any experience with this and how much approximately would I expect to pay for the removal? It will be done at home as my vet hasn’t got an inpatient practice.
Cheers!

I have a yearling who sprung a sarcoid in exactly this place following weaning. His dam had one just in front of her udder Professor Knottenbelt (the sarcoid expert) thinks it was passed on via him rubbing his eye against her sarcoid when he was feeding.

We sent pics of his off to Prof K who gave a number of treatment options; we decided that BCG injections were the most viable solution. You can’t use Liverpool cream near the eye. We sent him off to youngstock livery at a yard near our vet so that his treatment could be more closely monitored. Out of a vain hope, I started him on Radiance Gold just before he left us.

He’s been away for out 12 weeks now and blow me, the sarcoid is virtually gone. I don’t know whether it’s a change of environment, removing him from his dam (whose stomach sarcoids have now been treated with Liverpool cream) or the Radiance Gold. Who knows. I’m just hoping the darned thing doesn’t come back.

After reading up I’m quite tempted to give the radiance gold a go before trying any more invasive treatments🤞 though I will still have the vet take a look! :D

I’m glad we tried it before we started the treatment and putting him through a lot of trauma. Obviously we will never know if it was the change of environment or taking him away from the other sarcoid infected horse that also had an impact.

Radiance Gold now do SarcSecret which is specifically designed for skin lumps by focusing on gut and skin health. Myka has an inactive sarcoid on her belly. She came with it and it's tiny and not a problem at all but it's unchanged in the 11 months I have had her, so I have just started her on that and will report back.

After 11 months unchanged, it’s now visibly smaller. Not gone yet but it’s only been 6 weeks. I’ve bought another bag and will keep her on it for now.

In the last 10 years I have used Global Herbs' SarcEx previously with a 6 yo who had a sarcoid on her inner thigh, it fell off after 1 tub i think. About 20 years ago I also knew of an older horse, about 14 who had sarcoides over the top of her eye lids, they were successfully treated with the BCG injection, so its an option if they don't heal on their own.
