has any one tried theses any feedback? I have scoot boots but they rub my mares heels after the bad farrier issue.

I use Renegade Vipers front and back because they fit DP’s very round petite feet perfectly. They can be fiddly to set up but once that is done they never ever rub and have only ever come off in the deepest of mud. Great hard wearing boots which will last for miles and miles and if you do snap a wire or need new captivators you can buy spares rather than replacing the whole boot. They also do a factory fit soft insert if you have horses with very sensitive feet.

my number one boot and I have used them for years. Done many many miles in them.

after scoots rubbed the heels on 2 different horses badly they all went on marketplace. At least they sold well.

they stay on whatever and no rubs, A good 70% of the ones I have bought have fitted straight out of the box.

go for vipers rather than classics if you can get the fit.

I never go for the shells for fitting them always the boots. That way you can see exactly how they will fit when the bottom strap is pulled up tight.

I've used the originals and the vipers. I agree about fitting, they need adjusting when you first receive them but they do last ages. I hired the fitting kit before buying and my horse needed a size up compared with what I'd measured him at. My horse did miles in them without rubs.

I have Renegade Vipers on my old TB, mostly in the winter.

Good points - they have never ever rubbed, never slipped, twisted or fallen off, and we do mud/uneven ground/fast work in them, as well as road work.
They seem indestructible - after many year use, they come up like new after a quick wash and the sole is barely worn.
The sole is rigid and gives excellent protection from stones.

Bad points - the sole is rigid and has no flexibility at all.
It is hard to keep a pad in if you need cushioning for any reason.
The velcro has to loop through a rubber ring, which can be an a*se to undo when muddy and your hands are cold.

Overall, one of my go to boots and I would definitley buy more when , if ever, they wear out.

ETA the grip is as good as it gets on mud/grass. No boot is perfect on wet grass unless studded , but these are pretty good

Oh, I see I was tagged. I use Renegade Vipers on both horses' front feet. Fin onlyh has front boots, and Hermosa is booted all round, but Renegade doesn't make a boot that fits her hind feet, so she's in Evos on the back. They don't really make one for narrow feet.

The good: Easy to take on and off (though like Cragrat said, the rubber ring to secure the strap is a bit pants when your hands are cold, but Scoots are worse). They are tough and usually don't fall off. I've had to look for them a couple times but it's a rare event. Never had any problems with rubbing, and their grip on mud is much better than the Evos. I also like that when they wear out, they get holes but don't lose any grip, whereas when the Evos wear out, the sole gets flat so you lose all grip. I will run Renegades to death but I had to replace Evos as soon as they started getting worn because I couldn't take the horse on wet grass at all.

The bad: Adjusting them seems to require an engineering degree. My husband is, in fact, an engineer, and he does all Renegade hoof boot faff. The Evos are more user friendly to any idiot.

My Renegades have never lasted years, but I pound the hell out of them. My horses can hack 5-6 days per week on stony ground (and some of those hacks will be 2-4 hours). I probably get a year out of a pair if I'm lucky, but I don't think any other boot would be any better with heavy use.

I used Vipers on my retired horse's hinds for Trec. Fantastic performance boots and very secure. He did manage to kick one off once scrabbling up a rocky track at high speed. I have no idea how that was possible as the boot was undamaged and still done up when I found it!

Exactly this, and I’ve never got as much as a year out of Vipers, either, probably 8-9 months, but a lot more use than the average horse would clock up.
Bit daunting to initially fit, as above, then you should be flying.

My goto boot, the least likely boot to rub because of the way they are put together. No moving parts touch live skin.
.

In theory Renegade Vipers should fit my horse. I've just ordered a pair for his fronts. So we'll see how that goes.

I was torn between Scoot Boots and Renegades, but I've always preferred the design of the latter. If they don't fit, then that doesn't really matter though!
