I am going to be renting my own yard once the owner has done some work in the paddocks. It's a total of 6 acres and too much for my 3 to keep on top of without exploding! If i was to get a couple of pony liveries in would i need insurance and what type would i need? Would only be friends ponies but better safe than sorry.

You need to have 3rd party liability - to a value of at least £2m incase any of the horses get out, do damage, injure anyone who comes on the yard. If you are likely to handle their horses at all then you should look at insuring yourself for care and control so you are covered should one of them injure itself while in your care. Try ringing NFU - they are really helpful and will advise you of what is best for you.
