My horse who I have had for 9 months is apparently very bad to clip. Over the last couple of weeks I have been slowly introducing him to clippers with a view to clipping him at the end of this month. He is doing really well he will now tolerate some small trimmers being put all over him whilst on and tonight he even let me clip a tiny patch on his shoulder (I didn't try any more as the trimmers were running out and are really a bit small). He will also tolerate a massager which is much louder and vibrates much more than the trimmers on him. The problem I have is that both of these are cordless and the proper clippers I have access to have a flex and are very loud and I think the flex maybe a bit of an issue for him.
So I am thinking if I can borrow/ hire some cordless clippers for the first attempt it might make him better the next time as he will be used to everything except the cord. Does anyone know if it is actually possible to hire clippers and where this might be from?
I may have to bite the bullet and get the vet to sedate him but I would love to be able to do it without and we have a great bond so I really hope I am able to.
