Am looking for any experiences of renting your own land for grass livery. Whats the going rate these days? (im oop north) Liability issues etc? Any advice would be great
With regards to liability...make sure fence is well maintained etc...however insist that all horses have at least 3rd party liability insurance and insist on seeing the insurance docs every year
Even though it is grass livery you will need a contract stating what you will be responsible for and what you expect from prospective liveries...quite straightforward as all you providing is a safe environment for people to graze their horses
£15 a week is more than a reasonable price as it will enable you to pay for field maintenance
Basically I have been asked if someone can keep their horse on my land so im not offering it as a business Im just helping them out. I figure as long as they understand its at their own risk and their horse is their responsibility so to speak that it'll be ok?

Should be but put it in writing, always best for them to have insurance so it dosnt come back on you should said neddy get out onto the road and cause an accident, cynical of me i know but you need to make sure you are covered
and you will probably need insurance incase the horse or owner ijurs themselves whilst on your land. the NFU are the people to speak to about an insurance policy.
Just get yourself covered as a YO and with PL insurance. If livery horse gets out and causes a problem, if the owner is not insured, they will come after you. Speak to NFU
