Eventually my OH and I would like to rent a yard in order to run our own business. I've been looking about, and there are lots 'down south' but hardly any up here. Where do you find them?
Word of mouth usually. The yard next door to mine is rented out at the moment but the landlord is hoping the tenant will leave before her lease is up (another two years) as she is less than ideal.
Do you mind me asking Asbo, how it works? Do you rent the yard like you would rent a house? So you have sole charge for the pricing of what you charge liveries, have to pay all the associated bills (electric etc) and if you wanted to extend or build a school kind of thing would the owners help?
we pay for the yard & the electricity, any work needing done we have to do ourselves & i would imagine if we took liveries we would decided how much to charge.
owner only comes to the yard if we have a problem with the water/electricity
is there an opportunity to then buy the yard later on? Obviously you are adding to the value of the yard...so how does that work? Would they put your rent up?
Thats the trouble with renting. If you spend a lot of money on the place and do it up there is no stopping the owners putting the rent right up or even selling the place. It doesn't matter how nice the people seem, if they can get more money they'll do it!
Also with renting a yard a lot of money goes down the drain
hi i contacted local farmers and i found a diamond , hes let me do what i like , Ive built a school, 12 loddon stabels hes planting up 20 more acers grazing hes a star
and hes signed a 40 year lease hold...... ( coz Ive just spent 30 grand doing it up )

not sure actually as i have not asked, saying that the lady next door has rented the same grazing from him for 15 years & i really do not think he has any plans to sell any off it
i wouldnt buy it, we want to find a farm house with land in the next few years
