Replacement for bentonite clay.

I have a horse with a hindgut issue. Vet played around with meds , nothing helped. I currently have he on a mix of Bermuda Grass/Grass hay. (I live in Mexico so hay options are limited. She also gets a probiotic and bentonite clay.
She is doing great. However, I have read that keeping a horse on bentonite clay long term is not recommended. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

Can you get Protexin ? Thats what works for mine.

Protexin. You could start with their Gut Balancer and if still persists then Acid Ease.

What is the bentonite clay for? I only know it as a natural ion exchange resin for water purification
