Weatherbeeta Thermo-Cell combo - I have two (grey show cob!). They dry the horse out, don;t pick up bits like Thermatexes, don;t stretch out of shape like Thermatexes, and are half the price.
Bargain!
I don't like Thermatex rugs. I've got a waffle cooler for the horse which is brilliant and an aerborn cooler for the pony which is fab - both go through the washing machine no problems and stay put which is more than I can say for Thermatex
It depends what you want to use it for. I have a coolex and a comfort zone lapel rug. I love the comfort zone rug but it only has front fastenings and a belly strap as do most Thermatex rugs, so wont leave it on overnight. I can leave the coolex rug on overnight as it has cross surcingles and dont have to worry about it moving, however, I have found that my coolex has come up small and its big round the neck.
So after that ramble if you just want it as a cooler or under rug I would go for the comfort zone rug.
I have had thermatxes for years and have always been pleased with them, I don't have issues with the buckles which I know some do and have found them to wash well and be extremely long lasting.
I bought a Coolex as they were cheaper so thought I'd see what all the fuss was about, so far I hve not been impressed with it and would not buy another.
I have a thermatex and a coolex. I think the thermatex wicks a bit better and looks smarter but am happy with both. I paid the extra £5 to have x-sircingles put on my thermatex when I ordered it, it doesn't move and hasn't stretched. It's a T2000 which has smaller stitched diamonds than the 'cheaper' thermatex, which is why it doesn't stretch i suppose.
Thanks all. Think I am going to try the thermocell as they are on offer at DH, and think if I were to buy another thermy I'd go with the T2000. It will mainly be for travelling and general cooling after work or keeping warm after a bath but would be nice to be able to use as a layer overnight, hence why I'd hope to get something with x-surcingles.
