Replacement towing vehicle

My jeep has died suddenly and i need to replace it urgently. Replacement needs to tow Ifor 510 with two horses. Also needs to be tough enough to pull the harrow across the field from time to time but and here is the catch I live on the edge of London and therefore it needs to do quite a bit of urban driving too. One option would be to have an old land rover or equivalent to tow and then a small run around for the urban living but that means I have to park two cars and tax and insure two which is not ideal. In terms of the horse bit i really like discoveries and that will have all the towing capacity I ever need but I think I might feel a bit guilty driving two and half tons of metal around town. What do others in this situation do? Suggestions so far have been the VW Touareg or the Ssangyong Rexton. Does anybody have any experience of either of these in both situations or any other alternatives. I am not great at decision making at the best of times and now I need to make a quick one!

Kia Sorento? I have one and find them fantastic, not the worst as far as fuel consumption goes either (it's a 4x4 at the end of the day!)

My OH has the VW touareg 5.0 V10 and it is a brilliant car to drive. When driving long distances you can get 30ish mpi but towing normally 19mpg or low 20s

Looking for a replacement for our 2003 X5 too. Can't make up our minds between Discovery 4, VW Touareg or Mercedes M350. We also need to tow 2 horses in an IW but need to use it as a family car too so watching this post!

X5. I think the newer ones can tow two horses, and it's good on fuel as it's not too much of a tank.

The old style (I think it is before 07 plates?) Kia Sorento is really very good. I use mine to commute 25 miles each day I ride & to tow on the weekends and it's very comfortable, surprisingly nippy for its size and weight and an excellent towing vehicle, tows up to 3.5 ton (I think the newer ones only pull 2.7 or something)

If her just looking for a stop gap, you could do a lot worse than picking up one of these for a couple of grand!

I've got an 05 Kia Sorento and it beats my 02 shogun, 51 lands disco and both the Hondas into a cocked hat

Echo the Kia Sorento, a bit posh to harrowing but it'll easily do the job. Pre 07 are cheap, I picked mine up for 4k last year and it's brilliant.

Another vote for the Kia Sorento. Brilliant towing vehicle and great for every day driving.
