Daughter has a pair of expensive 'Parlanti' long riding boots & one of the zips is broken & needs replacing. Does anyone know a specialist boot repairer that can replace the zip & do a rally good job? I don't want to go to somewhere like 'Timpsons' because they even cock up re soling boots so don't want them abywhere near these boots. I don't care where in the country I have to send them to. Any information on someone with the skills I need would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have an fashioned cobbler near you? We have a couple by us that are really good and seem to always have loads of riding boots in to mend. I'd agree on avoiding timpsons!

I used my local saddler for mine, £30 for both. Great job and I'm really pleased with the finish.
Or there is a cobblers in melksham that a few top name brands use for their repairs

I'd recommend just taking them to your local man. He will more than likely do a good job and be cheaper.

However if it's the "handle" on the zip that's broken, a paper clip is a good temporary replacement

Thanks very much for the replies, I've sent off for estimates to a couple of boot repairers so we'll wait & see what they say. Once again, Thanks

If you can get to Kenilworth, in the Midlands, there is a cobbler there, by the big hotel opposite the park.

There is an old fashioned cobbler that will do them in derby if that is the right bit of the Midlands for you. Otherwise Feetfirst at Chesterfield are specialists who do mailorder repairs. Their website focuses mainly on motorcycle boots but they do riding boots too.

Second this. Kenilworth Cobblers on Priory Road opposite Abbey Fields. They are reasonable, do a superb job and the quality of work is outstanding.

They have repaired boots, bridles, head collars and all sorts for us.

Their website says they specialise in zip replacement!

I send my Parlanti's back to Parlanti in Italy for new zips. WHile they had them they resoled, stripped & polished, fixed the zips and did anything else that needed done. It cost me €90 and they put in their newer stronger zips. Had them back 10 days after I sent them and they were like brand new boots. Mine are 9 years old now and have sent them back for refurbishment twice. They are VERY heavily used and abused and come up brilliantly after the refurb

First Class Boot repairs in kent - you send the boots off and they send them back (quite quickly). Google them for details, and to print off the freepost labels etc. They have done my konigs a few times.
