Hi guys, really needing some advice!!

I have an older hunter model 505. The floor at present is the original plywood and due to its age and the leaks it's needing replaced.

I have trailed the net for weeks on end looking for hints and tips. I can't afford the aluminium flooring - credit crunch and all that - so replacing the wood it is.

I have seen combinations of all sorts including marine ply, buffalo ply, phenolic ply and aluminium checker sheets (as a base layer).

Has anyone had experience of doing this.......and if so how do you go about bolting/screwing it down?

Like most people I am OCD about the floor, would never forgive myself if something happened to my girl so making sure I'm using the best I can get.

Any info would be majorly appreciated :)

No idea, but I know if I needed to replace mine (and it is jumped on and poked regularly to make sure it is still safe!!) and I couldn't afford to get IW to do it, I would find someone locally I could trust. In my case it is a neighbour who does all sorts of car and engineering jobs for people, and he is 100% reliable as to when and how things need to be done. Or failing that a local trailer agent who services and repairs IW - can you not find someone like that and trust them to make the right call about materials? After all, they should know.

I've been in contact with my local Ifor Williams dealership but they aren't interested in helping unless I was looking for them to fit the aluminium floor. I know the thicker the floor the better, and to get it treated etc. I was just looking to see if anyone on here had done it recently and could advise what they've used. My dad and boyfriend are more than capable of the work, I just want to make sure I use the best materials for the job. Reading online people use so many different things and combinations of things......I'm probably over thinking it!!!

phenol ply sometimes called buffalo or wisa deck will be fine just make sure you paint any cut edges to seal out water... DO NOT be tempted to allow anyone to use marine ply....
