Hiya,

I'm on the look out for my first box with a very max budget of £1500 but the cheaper the better. I've come across alot of older Sinclair trailers which I love but they all have wooden floors obviously. Having had a friend have their horse pts in the past due to a severed tendon caused by his foot going through a wooden floor - it fills me with fear.

Its it possible to have older trailers such as the sinclairs & Rice Beauford floors replaced with aluminium like the Ifors? Or is it just the Ifors?

I'd rather spend £700/800 on an older trailer and get an aluminium floor in than £1200 on an Ifor with a wooden one if that makes sense. But if it cant be done it cant be done :(

Many thanks! xx

yes you can buy sheets of ally about 3mm + thick if the old floor is ok or you can use phenol ply for the floor , Do not use marine or other bare ply ......

We used 3/4" hardwood ply, two layers of it. It's a three horse trailer, so has to be extra strong. This was all on the recommendation of a local lorry refurbishment man/mechanic. He did the brakes, and we had an electrician put completely new electrics and lights on it (lit up it looks like a Christmas tree!) :cool:.

The initial plan was to use one layer, then 3mm aluminimum sheeting on top of that. Can't remember why we didn't - I think we needed to use it and didn't have time to get it to the sheet metal man.

We've replaced:

the floor;
the electrics;
the lights;
the brakes;
the tyres (the ones on it weren't rated for the weight it can carry); and
the partition bars, and had new full breast and breach bars made,

and now we're looking to put a stabilier on it as it is a big beast and the more help, even using a Disco to tow, the better :D
