Replacing wood chip surface.

Asking for a friend. If you had a 20x40 school, good drainage but woodchip surface what would you replace the surfacevwith & what would be likely costs.

It depends on whether there is a membrane under it - if so, she can choose sand or rubber. If there is no membrane, sand will trickle through the stone layer so she would be best with rubber chips. Take a tip from me - remove all the woodchip first. I just topped mine with rubber and the woodchip is gradually breaking down into compost-like material which holds water. I am hoping it will rot away altogether before too much longer but wish I had removed it before the rubber was added.

Yes we did, we had all the surface and membrane taken off and redone with sand and PVC it cost just under £ 5000
