Well a couple of you asked for a report of my 1st das hunting
Meet was delayed because of frozen ground to 12 noon.
Hacked down, which was also the first time on the road (luckily spoilt with direct access to wood) he was a dream with all the traffic. Got to meet and he was a little wobbly so found a lady on a quiet cob and asked if I could stand with them. Once he settled he took it all in, standing nicely and watching the hounds.
We set off and got to the 1st piece of open ground he cantered on the spot for a bit (he does this often when excited) then had a lovely long canter and I was living the dream. Then had a jump (it was a bit bigger than it looked on the aproach) we were waiting for the rest to come over or through the gap and it was a bit much for him and he started to canter backwards down hill! Did make me laugh though as a little boy said 'wow- now that's riding!- mum- when I'm bigger can I have a horse that can go backwards?!'. Then we went into the woods and although very excited and sweaty he enjoyed himself. We kept losing hounds so ditched them in the end and we were riding passed the end of the drive to my yard I came away, which I was a bit worried about but he didn't try to stay with the pack he was such a good boy.
Hunting- it was a difficult day because of the ground so we were restricted on what they would normally do. I had a lovely time everybody made a point of speaking to me and they were all lovely. Will definately go again when they are next in my area.
Ziggy- I couldn't be prouder of him, this was our first outing and I know that anything we do in the future will be a breeze. He looked gorgeous and behaved like a star!
