Wasting my time successfully....
Huge thanks to everyone who kindly gave advice on dress code and general tips for leading a lead rein pony at our first show.
It was only a local show, fairly informal and very friendly - a perfect first show.
In the end I managed to find some navy trousers and bought myself a quilted navy waistcoat. With a buttonhole it looked OK and matched with what the kids were wearing. Turns out I needn't have worried too much - most of the other leaders were in jeans! But it was good to feel the part. However, for the future I will find myself a smart hat.
Pony was a complete star and really took care of my two girls. We came home with a few rosettes but the one I was personally most proud of was a third for Turnout - something I didn't think we had a hope in hell in!
My 8 yr old was particularly pleased that she did her first jump ever, in the handy pony (on lead rein). That was something to remember! She did really well.
My girls never stopped grinning all day and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Pony is getting extra carrots tomorrow - will go to the stables via the allotment and dig her some nice juicy ones!
