Took my lab agility training for the first time on Thurs eve and we both loved it!!

We started off jumping smallish jumps, with the trainer telling me where I need to position myself and which hand to use for direction. Ended up doing 2 in a row, round a corner and over another, clever dog!!

Then on to the tunnel. She was fine with trainer holdingherone end and me ast the other end calling her but she won't go through by herself at the minute so that def needs working on.

Then on to the A frame and the other thingy that the dog walks up along the top and down the other side. No probs at all but need to teach her to wait at the bottom, on the white marker. He has given us some tips on how to do this so this is our home work this week!!

The on to the hoop. Straight through from all directions several times so no worries there!!

He then said he would set us a little challenge, and no other dog in his sessions had done it on their very first try. It was to jump through hoop then over the next 2 fences. Well we did it!! The other lady had 2 tries and then mastered it!!

All in all it was a great evening and can't wait till next thurs!!

No, its not expensive. We pay a fiver for a years membership, then five pounds a lesson. Also we can take the dogs there to practise when other training classes are on for free!!

I took my JRT Dora today, she's done a couple of bits before but that was last year. Today was her first proper one, she aced it :D Got some weaves for homework as they're the hardest bit of kit so would recommend you get some. You can use electric fence posts or I've got these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dog-Agili...pplies_Dogs&hash=item2ea7af74f9#ht_483wt_1810

I'm hoping to have her ready to compete in the Nursery classes at UK Agility shows, she's old enough in July - not long to find the concentration "on" switch lol.

Thanks for the link. They look good and not too expensive.

We are trying weaving on Thursday and he also mentioned the see -saw!!

Echodomino it sounds as if you have been bitten by the bug!! I am hoping to compete a bit too but obviously thats a long way off yet. Good luck to you and your little JRT!!

Thanks :D

Oh yes totally bitten. I have Dora's mother, Mouse, and started going to training with her 6yrs ago as a 2yr old and never actually wanted to compete but the club put on their first show so I entered to support them and that was it!!

Won out at our first proper show :D Still have her trophy and rosette. Got as far as Grade 3 with Mouse then lack of time and last year was hideous for us with my OH's little'un in hospital then I broke my ankle so Mouse didn't get to do anything else. She's too fat now lol. But She had a litter last year and Dora Dipstick was the result lol and I actually think that training wise she'll be even easier and will probably take me further than Moo.

Dora will quite happily take herself off and do the A frame, dog walk and see-saw without being told lol, was just stood talking to my instructor and off Doodle toddles over the kit - I do one-to-one we weren't being unruly lol!! Makes it easier when a dog will happily work away from you, Moo was a sod for only working well if I kept up with her
