I hope no-one will mind me posting a slightly different competition report

This weekend just gone I competed in the National Horseball league's first weekend on my new horse in a new team. He had never competed in a match before and is still getting to grips with the ball so I was a touch nervous to say the least!

I've worked really hard to get his feet sorted so that he's sound and comfortable on them and he's come back from a chipped hock so it was a big test for him.

We set off at the crack of dawn on Saturday morning with my friend who was riding one of my other horses for the first time. We unloaded and got the horses ready for the vetting. All the pampering, glitter stencils and oiling made Lloydy think that he was going racing again!

To cut a long story short he was an absolute star!! He was responsive, brave in defence and we even managed to get his first goal!

I'm so proud of this horse and loved every minute of playing on him. Happy days!

Ready to go

Forging ahead loving every minute

Goal!!

Kicking on towards goal!

We're only in the 2nd division so we're not THAT fast and furious (enough for me though) but I've only been playing a year and I love it and it's given a couple of my horses who have had previous injuries, meaning that they can't be doing lots of jumping anymore, a new lease of life and they seem to really enjoy it and get very competitive!

Looks great fun!

Always been interested in giving it a go but never really followed it up. Any suggestions for how i'd go about doing this? Based in the West Midlands if this helps with suggestions at all!

There's several clubs that do have a go days, Warwickshire Warriors might be one of your closest ones

Search for Harleys Horseball Club on Facebook as they do lots of them and might not be too far away but also check out the BHA website and Facebook page as they will have lots of info http://www.britishhorseball.co.uk/

I started on one of the ROR have a go days run by Derby Horseball Club and just fell in love with it! Give it a go, it's addictive!

We play the majority of our league games at Onley :)

Thanks for the enthusiastic responses all. I'm a complete convert, I just wish that I'd discovered it at an earlier age!

I was at Onley on Sunday to watch a friend SJ and I saw the horseball warm up - it looks like incredible fun!

Though, hats off to you all, I'm not sure I could lean down and try and grab the ball without flopping onto my head! Well done!
