ok, what a surprise! turned up at the yard, lovely set up, small but very nice, meet the woman who runs it, really impressed with her, she basically takes on horses from a local trainer that failed at racing and schools them a little and then finds them homes, she introduced me to the chestnut, really sweet little man, he was backed as a two yr old and then trainer decided he had a lot more growing to do so he was turned away for a few years and has been sent to this place 2 weeks ago to be rebacked and sold as a riding horse, very green but very quick to learn, really fell for his nature, anyway, here are some pics and videos of him, let me know what you think, he had never cantered before with anyone on him, and was so balanced, also he had never seen a pole before and first time he jumped it by about 3 ft bless him

O he is lovely - in need of some TLC too

He has quite a nice movement too, I think with some schooling etc he will make a lovely horse.

What do you plan to do with him?

Very nice and Kind face

He does have the typical TB feet, he has feet like my old TB, but with the right shoes etc it will all come.

So are you getting him?

well want to event (just intros and PN) so hopefully in a few years he might be up to it

really tempted by him, is nice that he never raced either so totally unspoilt and ready to teach

Ooooooooo Go for it!!!

See!!! I told you so!! Its always the way, you always find something when youre not looking for it. Clearly it wasnt over described as some are which is why you werent disappointed.
Looks ok to me. I agree about the pasterns and flat tb feet and would get a vet to check. Trouble is its difficult to tell from a photo. He does look very green but at least you know he hasnt been overdone or spoiled. Good luck.

would definatly have him vetted, am taking photos to my vet to have a nosey over anyway so will see what she says, he was very green but very bright, he only took 3 times of me asking canter to completly understand what i meant, and was very balanced

So I take it you are having him if he passes a vetting?

He looks lovely... I have loved bringing on a very green horse over the past few months. It just feels so rewarding!

is not very helpful is it?

mum kept saying how sweet he was etc... and he wasnt much to look at, poor boy, only been ridden for 2 weeks, never seen a brush ar clippers from the look of him, i mean what tb looks nice in feb?! fortuenly i can see past all that

My horses hind feet turn out like that. She's got lateral extensions and is shod to try and stop her landing on the outside of her hind feet. She drags her toes a touch too when trotting. Can't tell on sand whether this horse does that slightly.

Agree with vicijp, front pasterns/fetlocks look a bit weird, as though they are dropped slightly. However, I'm not used to how Tb's should look...never having owned one.

Looks massive stood next to your mum! What did he do to his near side hock?

Horses eh? They'll find mischief in anything! LOL

You said he was turned away to mature. Is there a way of checking if that's true or not? By that I mean, any way to check he wasn't turned away because of an injury. Much as I like him, his front pasterns just look "wrong" somehow.

could proberly check with the trainer, although sounds very geniuine, his legs are clean no bumps lumps puffyness etc

am taking the old boy to the vets next week so will take photos and show my vet (she is really picky about what she passes anyway) and see what she thinks about front feet, although with some shoes on think he would be more upright, has the typical flat footed tb stance at the moment

As I said before, I've never owned a tb, and my cob is a very typical upright cob so compared to Patches this tb looks like it has dropped fetlocks! I also couldn't decide if near side front tendon looked a bit "Iffy". Hence why I asked if he was just turned away or injured. I'm sure that's not the case though and I'm imagining it. LOL

I really should look at more horses to build an even picture. You're having him looked over anyway, so any potential problems would be noted. Good luck. He looks a nice lad.

Nice little horse - superb colour and will look great once fittened up.

One thing I noticed, and it could very well be the photo, but what is going on with that nearside cannon bone? Has he injured a tendon there?

The flaring of the rear hooves wouldn't bother me - a few months with a decent farrier will rectify that but the pasterns would be worth checking out.

Are you going for a vetting? With x-rays? I would. He seems pretty honest for a youngster though, so good luck.

How old is he?
