I had a fantastic day today at my first ever show (the annual yard show).
First, we did Best Turned Out and we came joint 4th
, everyone looked so smart, I didn't think we'd get placed at all. Pony was very good but just didn't "get" the concept of the line-up at the end! My friend and her new pony came 1st which was just fab.
Then we did the clear round jumping. I've only been jumping for a few months, and a few weeks ago fell off when he refused and I landed on a jump wing. Murphy can also be a bit tanky back to the gate if there's people standing around and we had an audience, so I wasn't expecting a clear round, I just wanted to do the course. The jumps were tiny. He was a star
and we got a clear round, and he seemed to really enjoy it and was very well behaved, so I'm really chuffed.
Last thing of the day was gymkhana games. These were great fun, although we were both a little rubbish and pony did a few unscheduled canters up and down the school while I grappled with hanging on to the reins and an apple at the same time - well, I did manage to keep hold of the apple at least! I also managed to drop pretty much everything I wasn't supposed to drop, but it was loads of fun!
