Reporting Ragwort in Scotland

Does anyone know how I can go about doing this and whether or not its actually an effective means of forcing landowners to clear it?

Try your local council office and if no joy go to Seerad. They are getting more persuasive these days!

How do you do this in England? It's blasted Council land (or maybe Highways...) that has a hgue patch of it

In England it's notifiable to Defra (for all the good they will do

Report it to your council Mrs M as I think they have an obligation to clear it. Not 100% certain though to be honest

Good luck with getting it cleared. I was in Scotland several years ago on a touring holiday and was absolutley horrified at the sight of ragwort everywhere!

yeah theres loads of the bloomin stuff and worst of all most of it is on council land and what do they do cut it down when its flowering brilliant idea!!

I never heard of any land owner being forced to clean up ragwort. Have seen people on motorway embankments shifting it and think they do a marvellous job.

Also agree with other posters, worst offenders re letting ragwort grow are the councils. We just keep on top of clearing any rag wort that grows on our land..we pull it up with a ragwort fork and always make sure we are wearing gloves....ragwort really is vile stuff.
