I had about 8 or 9 turnouts washed & preproofed by a company in spring & now I've started using them realised they haven't been reproofed or if they have, it's not done the job!

What do you reproof yours in? I'd prefer something spray or paint on rather than wash in.

Thanks!

I have used the nikwax spray on reproofer to good effect. Needed a couple of coverings but has worked. Trying fabsil next. Can’t bear to leave rugs dirty and I’m happy that I can now just get them washed professionally and then reproof them effectively myself. Bit of a faff but certainly won’t be paying for the shops “reproofing” again!

At the moment in Aldi they are selling cans of waterproofing spray @ £1.99 per 300ml can. You can also buy 'Fabsil', it's been around forever & normally used to waterproof tents. Ir's good stuff.

This. Aldi proofer is amazing! I’ve done coats, country boots and my caravan awning and they are all waterproof. Not tried it on a rug yet but I have stocked up on 10 cans for when they don’t do it anymore 😂

Lidl had some good stuff, w5 waterproofing spray. I did my leaky jacket and it's been fine since. Unfortunately my local Lidl has run out because it is so popular:(

I've just got something called Quechua spray from Decathlon. Not tried it yet, but it was only £3.99 so I thought it worth a go.

Like everyone else who had had rugs cleaned and reported I've found that whilst they look lovely (our local person via tack shop does a great washing service) the waterproofing doesn't seem to last.
