Is it worth it? I have a combo rug it's done me well for 6 years. But have now noticed it's not as waterproof as it used to be. Would u get it reproofed or not bother as a lot of people say it's never as good once it's lost it's factory reproofing? Wonder if I'm better off putting my money towards new rug instead?*

We paint our rugs every other year with the stuff you buy from outdoor shops for reproofing tents. I've never had a rug leak yet. If you get the rug washed and reproofed by the cleaners, then they nearly always leak!

I've mainly washed and reproofed my own rugs with shop bought products that are out there. Last summer I took it to our local country supply stores and "treated" myself to two rugs to be washed and reproofed. Can you believe my horse has come in soaked to the skin in both rugs this winter. They both took a week to dry out! Back to the stores and now they have both rugs have gone off again to be washed and reproofed...Was told that perhaps my horse had stood out in the rain too long that's why he was wet! Well in the 8 years I've been doing them myself, he has never come in soaked to the skin...... Now two rugs down and waiting patiently to get them back!
