What is the quality like?

obviously I am not expecting miracles but I will be getting a few youngsters so need some rugs in a few different sizes & realistically can't afford top quality rugs

& what do they fit like?

I have had a few Requisite Rugs for a pony who tends to need 7 rugs on in the winter so therefore I can't afford to buy them to expensive, I bought one requisite fleece and it was rubbish, he had ripped the neck of it right of within 2 days (and they wouldn't refund) but the pony isn't particularly destructive with rugs. However I do have a lightweight turnout and that has lasted 7 years and a heavy weight stable which is fine other than the velcro on the neck isn't so sticky but it has been washed a number of times. I wouldn't be put of buying them for your youngsters (unless they are very destructive) because overall they are not to bad. The pony the rugs where for was an 11.2hh Welsh Section A who usually takes 5"0 but I would recommenced getting a size up as I don't think they are very generous. :)

Absolute cr@p IMHO! I has a Requisite fleece which stretched out of shape immediately - would have fit in two of my horse. Returned it and had customer service issues with the people at the Cannock store. Had another fleece before that which cost as much as a decent brand but had no surcingles so is an absolute pain to use. And has stretched out of shape. I had a couple of their cotton stable sheet type rugs which were OK for the money - I bought them for £7 each in the sale but wouldn't have paid much more for them. I did have a turnout too - very short, fitted like a mini dress on my horse!

Price-wise they are about the same as Shires I think so I'd go with Shires every time.

They come up very small in my opinion rubbish for chunky types. I'd rather buy from DH in the Sales or get from ebay some cracking rugs and cracking deals :)
Really wouldn't recommend.

Just to add my tuppence worth although I can see you've had plenty of info already... they are very small, the only horse they fit of mine is the very fine TB. I have a virtually brand new, unused 6'9 half neck which was just useless on the youngster. He looked like a kid who'd outgrown his duffle coat. No room in the chest at all. If you have any kind of bone, look around for Amigo or Shires on sale. Oh and the velcro on the neck is rubbish.

We had a couple for our pony, he was very good with his rugs but I was surprised at how good they were as I wasn't expecting much! He had a stable rug which lasted for years, and a lightweight which was incredibly waterproof and fitted him really well. Not sure they'd last as long with the other two but they really suited him.

I got a fleece 5 years ago and it is still going strong. It was remarkably cheap and a good size as it fit my 14.1hh gelding and also fits my 14.3hh mare. I actually really like it. I don't think i'd get a turnout rug from that range though.

I have bough a few over the year an find them really good, had turnouts, fit well, not small, specially for thier price, have lasted years, no leaking, ripping, moving etc

I have a 300g stable rug with fleece lined neck. Its 2 years old now and I love it, keeps horse nice and warm its comfortable and was a good price as purchased in sale. It wraps round belly so deep enough. However looking at some pics of robinsons online they look like the come up quite shallow so not bought ant more. I wouldn't however but turnouts from them prefer horseware.

alternate budget brand: ive generally only use Rhinegold and using the same turnouts (horses live out year round so in constant use) for several winters and all still waterproof even been washed in machine with normal powder lol.
they dont get ripped very easily apart from by one horse who seems to drag herself around the fence deliberately to trash her rugs! but at this price i dont mind if i have to replace hers every other year :) if i paid a fortune and she trashed them id be gutted and she would be naked :O (joke!)

I've got a stable rug that has been fine. It does fit small though, even smaller after washing. It was 6'6 but after a few years is more like 6'-6'3!

I like Shires for decent value decent rugs.

I have just bought a 100g turnout for my h/w cob .It is a bit of a mini dress, but he is a chunky lad.Prefer the gallop or shires. The rug is good for the money.

Axoim rugs on ebay, cheap but fab quality, wasn't expecting alot for a rug that cost £35 brand new for a heavyweight, it has put up with being hung off by his field companion and lovely fit, no mane or shoulder rubbing. Also Swish rugs slightly more expensive but again really good quality and copes well with his friends constant tugging (they trashed a brand new amigo in 2 days)

Mine wrecks the requisite ones. I have a rhinegold and a derby house that were in tge sale at a similar price and have lasted much better. I also discovered Equidor on ebay, and have been really impressed with the durability for the price, which is similar to requisite.

The quality is good but the sizing is very odd. My boy is a perfect 5ft9 & almost all brands in that size fit him except the requisite rugs, they come up really short but when I've tried 6ft on him they are massive! I have a 6ft turnout for him and its a lovely rug, I just bulk it out with a couple of fleeces!
