Resident/non resident hunting cap - help!

Help!

Am planning on going out with my local hunt tomorrow, the secretary knows I might be coming (had a root canal today so depends if I have hampster cheeks in morning!) as they go over my top feild frequently so I told one of the masters I was hoping to come when they called to tell me they were about.

The master very kindly dropped me of the subscripton rates, but for one days hunting there is two different rates, one for residents & one for non residents? Do I count as a resident as they go over my top feild?! Or does resident mean something else?!

Should I just pay the higher rate so as not to annoy folks? I can't call the secretary as I don't have their number

V nervous of messing up, am going on my own (well, taking my pony ) & have only been twice before with a different hunt many years ago!

Who you hunting with?

I guess that resident rate is what you thought it was, i don't think it could be anything else? There is also in some hunts 'visitors rate' where it's just a 1 off for that hunt.

If they are hunting over your land you must be resident within the boundaries of the hunt, so pay the lower cap.

Thanks chaps, I did ask the master how much it would be & the amount she said was the higher rate, (she didn't sound too sure tho!) which is why I was confused by the resident thing as thought it might mean something else.

Maybe I should just take cash & ask the person who collects caps when I am there, or is that rude to discuss money?

Gosh I sound feeble, think it's the root canal drugs wearing off!!

Resident/non-resident to me refers to whether you live in the country or out of the country. As be positive said, if they cross your land you must be in the country therefore you are a resident. Also, if they cross your field they will want to keep you happy! Therefore pay the lower cap! Just take the right amount of cash for the lower rate and hand it over. No bother.

This! they ride on your land, theres no way you wouldn't pay the lower rate! Don't pay the higher cap, if you want to give them the extra do by all means but put it separately in the hunt servants fund or something.

Thats what I thought, that I must be in the country but as the master quoted the higher figure I wondered if there was some hunting term I didn't know about

Will play safe and pay higher rate tomorrow & get secretarys number for next time to call & ask. Sounds least likely to offend?!

My yard owner got a free day for herself and a guest if the hunt used to cross her top fields. It was a thanks for allowing the hunt over her land!
