Has anyone ever found that their horse did not respond to one type of injected steroid (e.g., given for lower hock injections etc.) - but did respond well/improve with another type of steroid that was injected??

My horse has been diagnosed through nerve blocks/xrays etc. with lower hock joint arthritis - he is sore at trot. Last fall, my horse responded very well to depo-medrol in his lower hock joint. Then my new vet used triamcinolone (Vetalog) and we got zero improvement (however, xrays did show more deterioration of the joint). So we have tried depo-medrol again to see if it can get him comfortable again like it did last fall - or if perhaps the arthritis is too advanced for any steroid to help.

Has anyone ever found their horse responded to type of steroid and not another? Or do all horses respond to all steroids about the same?

Off the top of my head I can't remember which steroid my mare had (in her hind fetlocks) but it had no effect. However the IRAP treatment exceeded my vet's expectations and has made her much more comfortable :)
