Does anyone know if there a way of getting black leather saddles black again. I have a beautiful Jaguar dressage saddle generally in great condition but the leather on the pommel is quite faded and makes it look very tatty (which it isn't!)

Any suggestions apart from boot polish greatly appreciated as I cant afford to keep buying white jods! :p

IF you decide to use a leather dye, make sure you seal it with Resoline (Fiebings) as most spirit leather dyes are aniline and can be carcinogenic, It can leach through your skin, it's nasty stuff.
Sealing/fixing it with resoline will stop it running on to your jods but it does tend to make the saddle shiny.
The other way is to use a water based edge stain but that will need doing now and again as it tends to wear off. You may find that also ends up on your jods but it is a safer product to use.
Boot polish should never be used on veg tanned leather as it effectively seals it as it usually has silicone's and synthetic waxes in it, the result is the leather then cannot absorb any conditioner or moisture are dries out.
