I'm pretty convinced that the recent bad behaviour of my horse is down to a sudden spring flush, so I'm restricting his grazing to five hours a day until the risk is over. Other than that he'll be yarded on hay and exercised. He was out for 14 hours overnight before he started to become so silly, so it is a major reduction in his grass intake.

Do you think that this will be ok for him?

Many thanks.

Mine aren't out at all atm - one has got too fat, so is on a soaked hay diet. The other is lame & on box rest.

Both are happy in, as they get groomed/taken for walks/fatty gets exercised.

Personally I prefer to restrict grazing with electric fencing rather than bringing them in if I can help it. Is this an option for you?

I don't think it will harm him at all, it all depends on what works for you and your horse, they are all different. Also haing read a lot recently on calming products due to horse coming back into work after box rest, it coould be down to magnesium defiency (lack of it in the grass at the mo) and a supplement could solve help solve your probs!:)

sounds like a very good plan. My boy is in the starvation paddock during the day, with hay, and out normally at night.

I think it's whatever suits you and your horse, but sounds fine to me. sm x

Nickin - I have actually put him on magnitude because I was thinking of the magnesium deficiency too. Can't use electric tape because his companion has absolutely zero respect for it. Thanks so much.
