does your YO let you do this and if you were the YO how much would you charge per week to retain it?

my YO wont let you keep your stable if you move to a diferent yard cos as far as he is concerned he has a waiting list and if you have moved you`ve moved!

If want to keep stable would just have to pay full rate for it all yr round(our livery doesn't include bedding and hay anyway) otherwise it goes.

If you just want to keep the stable to see if you like the new yard. Just say he/she is going for some schooling for 2 weeks/month, but that you realise you will have to pay for the stable while he's there. If you like it then tell them your leaving.

I dont see why your yard owner would have a problem with this if you are will to pay the normal fee for the stable. Dont expect it to be cheaper just because there is no horse in the stable.

If there is a waiting list and he can fill the box tomorrow, I would expect to have to pay full price to keep it. If you are willing to pay full price to keep your space I would expect him to let you !

If you are actually planning on leaving the old yard for good, but want to see how new yard works out, and are keeping the box as a reserve measure, I think it is taking the mickey a bit......if I were a YO I am not sure I would want to accomodate people that are clearly hedging their bets.

I'd expect to keep paying full price in this circumstance.

When I was horseless after selling and whilst looking for a new one my YO kindly dropped my rates from £25 p/w to £10 p/w. Not sure my current yard would do a similar thing though.
