Retired my horse recently due to vets advice and bought new one. Now old horse has improved markedly ! Im sure hes done it deliberately! May even be able to pootle out on him
again.
Mine was retired for about 5 years out on grass - i bought a new horse who is fantastic to event/dressage- really missed my old horse so bought her in from grass even though she wasnt being used - i just liked spending time with her - now she is being ridden and is a superstar - hacks out/ jumps even doing xc sunday- completely sound - was told to put her down twice - amazing what remedial shoeing and a bit of patience can do!
I sooooo hope this is the case of mine. He has been retired due to various feet problem and I was rushing to make a decision - PTS on vets advice because he didnt think he was worth spending anymore money on or would come sound, or keeping him as a pet and face not riding again as I couldnt afford two but my lovely hubbie agreed we could have one on loan.
She came on Tuesday and she is lovely and my boy is looking better already - it has really perked him up and I feel now that I can just let him be and give him that time and hopefully he will become sound enough to start enjoying life and going out for some hacks again.
