So now I have 2 retired horses. 'Oldie' is 20 and had a broken leg a few years ago.
Younger one I retired 3 weeks ago. He's only 13 but was becoming increasingly tense and unhappy to ride due to back and hock problems. He used to be on Loan to me and I bought him 3 years ago knowing he had multiple issues but wanting to make sure he would be ok.
I'm sad our riding days are over but very happy I could do what's right for him and make sure he is not unhappy or in pain. For now I'm going to give him the summer to just enjoy being a fat happy pony and will think what I do next in the autumn.
