Retirement is for sissies, apparently

I thought Alf was done with working for a living. He's nearly 26, and it's over 10 years since he became an insurance write off.

He came in for a bit of tarting up yesterday, and instead of primping, he ended up having a saddle on, and heading off for an impromptu hack with a friend on board. I said "See what you think - he'll soon let you know if he's not enjoying himself"

On their return, she looked at me, shook her head, and said "He is absolutely NOT ready to retire!" He bounced all the way, spooked and snorted at everything worth spooking and snorting at, and didn't want to turn round and come home.

Guess I'd better dust off my boots!

He looks very pleased with himself!

Completely random question if I may - what are the ropes tied to the roof for?!
They are clipped to the gates, as the wind comes howling across the yard and takes the gates flying when you open them! Carefully positioned so that you can get horses in and out without unclipping the ropes!
