I'm looking a bit into the future here as my horse is only 16 and very fit and healthy.

I plan to keep my horse until the day she goes to rainbow bridge, due to finances and time (as I'm at uni) she is currently on loan to an equine college. I plan for her to be there for about another 3 years while I finish my degree, get a job etc. Unless of course she starts to not enjoy college life or needs to slow down sooner.

Then the plan is for come back to me for a slightly quieter life, hacking out few times a week, local shows and the odd jump....obviously dependent on her!
So my question is.....when the day comes where she cannot be ridden any more, and she needs extra attention and care I'm worried I'm not going to have the time (due to career) that she needs. So.....(long story short) are there horsey retirement yards?
I'm imagining like a full livery but living out all the time in a herd and their health being monitored.

To add I had my old pony until she was 33 and although she was very healthy and didn't live a minute longer than she should have I know the time and care that went into her and that's why I fear I won't have the time with my current horse.

Yes there are - of all types and in all areas :)

Google retirement livery to see what's in your area a bit nearer the time you need one.

My two are on one like you describe - out 24/7, checked daily, rugged as and when needed and wormer and farrier sorted etc. The only downside is that it is 70+ miles away so I don't see them half as much as I'd like to but they are very happy and well cared for.
