i have fencer unit,i have the receipt from when i bought it 11 months ago.it is broke.

should i go back to the shop where i bought it or the manufacturer?

the on/off button is not working and i have been told that it is a common fault and my fencer man sayes £50 to mend it.(its a green rutland i think)
thank you

I would asume that tyhere is a 12 month guarantee & if so just take it back to the shop with the receipt, that proves date of purchase & tell them that the on off switch no longer works & you would either like it repaired or replaced.

To check on length of guarantee prior to going conta ct Rutland, details as per this link:

went into the shop and they have kept it,i am to go back friday.
i did ask if i could have another 1 there and then but they said no,they have to get in touch with the makers.

Ifyou bought the item from a shop - and the definition is wide - you are covered by The Shops Act, therefore your contract is with them regardless of the manufacturers guarrantee despite what some try to fob you off with!

11 months is no time for a fencer to need replacing - has been used all the time or in the shed for a while? Do not tell anyone you've left it hooked up to a dead battery even if you have!!!

Let us know how you get on.

That is not true, your contract is with the shop, they should replace the goods and then it is up to them to deal with the manufacturer.

i find it confusing as last two posts are at odds.

the unit was very lighty used,a week in one place then a week in another then in the shed for a bit because we have had one stolen before and i move it around.
