HI.

I have been looking for ages for an 505 in very good condition with no luck, as I seem to keep missing the odd one that comes up. Now have the option to buy a 506, the MK 2 version. What are they like? I had heard all of the bad reviews of the MK1, hence sticking with the 505, but are they much improved? Are the partitions solid enough, drive quality, are they still very flimsy? I know they have made the front panel out of aluminium and ? somewhere at the back. Is the ramp heavy with the spare wheel there? Sorry lots of questions, just don't want to make a mistake. Any reviews welcome. TIA.

I had a 505 and last year upgraded to a 511 I'd been slightly nervous as had heard some poor reviews on the mk1 version however I think it's fantastic, I find the front ramp slightly heavy but the back ramp easier (it must be heavier). It is nice to tow and easy to clean the interior I would certainly go and have a look at it if I was you.

I purchased a new 506 two years ago after realising that people were asking silly money for nearly new ones. I owned an old Bateson and having a brand new trailer was wonderful. It tows well and horse travels much better in it as it doesn't rattle like the old trailer. I like the big window at the front so daughter can see horse while we are travelling plus the sliding Windows and air vent are good. Downside are nowhere to tie a haynet up (unless you pay more) and the screws holding the chains all seem to fall off. Yes the back ramp is fairly heavy but I can manage it on my own and I'm fairly weak arm strength wise.

I totally love my new 506, as dornrose said the review weren't great when they initially released them but I think all those problems were sorted long ago. Tow's like a dream. Horse travels well, nearly 3 hours the other day and he walked off cool and calm. I have sliding hay net rails which I really like.

My mum always towed a 510 back in the day and she was super impressed by the 506 when we went to view it. I would have had to buy a 510 to get the head height but the 506 and 511 have the same internal heights now.

I can recommend TH White centres if you're in the south. It's always worth ringing and asking for prices. I found that most places stock 'their' standard model, which has x and y, but costs less than ordering with the extras. Depending on what you want obviously.

I don't struggle with either ramp. I also have sliding windows which are fab.

I have just had a new 506, only took madam for a quick tow around the block so far, but it tows lovely, seems nice and airy inside she is a tricky loader but seemed very easy to get on. I find the ramp very easy on my own, not heavy at all. I have the sliding hay rail and sliding windows as well.

The long window is great so you can see them whilst travelling, however, not great when your on your own and suddenly realise how much they do actually move around, and then your supposed to be driving, but panicking about your horse instead

I've had mine 4 1/2 years now bought it new, its a Mk2. I love it and have had very few problems with it and it tows like its not there. I have replaced the partitions with the single breast and breech bar which make travelling my single horse so much easier and I can tack up inside it. My first trailer apart from a 510 I hired for the summer which was always snaking and eventually overturned with 2 ponies in it (yikes, thankfully aok), thats why I bought brand new and dont regret it x

Absolutely love the 506, horses are chilled out, tows lovely and looks smart. I loved my faithful old 505 driving around the country with it but you can't beat an upgrade!

Thanks everyone. Think I will take the plunge. I have seen they sell hay rails so may purchase one of those to solve haynet issue. Will go and look at it tomorrow.
